A Night At The Movies CXXVIII: Doctor Who: The Movie

Posted by drteine on November 13, 2011

Well, I would say that I am a Dr. Who fan.  I would also say that I’m enough of a fan to look past occasional slip-ups, but not past this slip-up.  I think I see why it took another 7-8 years (or however long it was) for Dr. Who to reappear after this film appeared on TV.  Hooboy, this was bad.  The Master was from the Ham Fisted school of Villany, the Doctor had some of his insightfulness and wit you would expect, but I just couldn’t find myself liking him.  And the human companions – ugh.  One dimensional and lame.  Bad dialogue, bad acting, and only so-so special effects did not make this one a good one.  I want to say that it was good I saw it as it only deepens my appreciation for the past three doctors I’ve watched over the past 3-4 years, but in the end, I think I would have been fine if I had never seen this one.  Oh well – not everything can be good.

The Eighth Doctor made me cry.

I have to watch Nine again to make it all better.
